BJP allowed to use Kanpur varsity helipad for Narendra Modi`s chopper

The district administration on Thursday gave BJP the permission to use Kanpur University`s helipad for the landing of Narendra Modi`s chopper during his rally on October 19.

Kanpur: The district administration on Thursday gave BJP the permission to use Kanpur University`s helipad for the landing of Narendra Modi`s chopper during his rally on October 19.
The district administration on Thursday gave us the no-objection certificate for the landing of Narendra Modi`s chopper at Kanpur University`s helipad, said BJP district unit chief Surendra Maithani, adding that the certificate has been sent to Gujarat government officials.

"We had sought permission from the district administration to use the university helipad, but were told to get a temporary helipad built near the rally venue. When we started the work on that, PWD officials denied us the permission, saying that there was not enough space for it," Maithani said.

"We then again asked the administration to allow us to use the university helipad, but were told that the university has not given the NoC for it," he said.

"It was when the media highlighted that permission was not being given for the landing of Modi`s chopper, the administration sprung into action and sought an NoC from the university," Maithani said.

Maithani said after landing in the university, Modi will travel by car to Buddha Park, the rally venue.

Modi will reach the park around 2PM and leave at 4PM.

He will reach Lucknow by a charted plane and then travel to Kanpur in a helicopter, he said.
