BJP held its first brainstorming session here to discuss the names of candidates for the upcoming UP Assembly elections due early next year.

Lucknow: BJP on Friday held its first
brainstorming session here to discuss the names of candidates
for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections due early
next year.

The party`s election committee will forward the final list
of candidates to the BJP Parliamentary Board soon, state unit
chief Surya Pratap Shahi said.

Senior party leaders discussed the names of prospective
candidates for all the 403 Assembly seats in the state.

To questions on the delay in announcing the names when
other parties were way ahead, Shahi said BJP wanted to
announce the names after due consideration of various factors
and not take a hasty decision.

Sources said the list of names was likely to be announced
by next month.

Shahi said that in the run up to the elections, his party
would organise district level programmes "to expose the manner
in which corruption has been institutionalised in the state."
