Ghaziabad: The body of 21-year-old Hemant,
son of a senior fire official, was found by the police exactly
a week after he was hacked to death allegedly by his younger
brother.

Police personnel with the help of divers of the
Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) yesterday recovered the
body from Hindon river after a massive search operation
launched since January 19, DIG Akhil Kumar said.

The body, which was sent for postmortem, was consigned to
flames today by the family members, he said.

Hemant, son of Chief Fire Officer AP Singh, was killed on
January 19 allegedly by his younger brother Sachin along with
the help of cousin Amit at the government quarters in Police
Kotwali area here.

During interrogation Sachin confessed that he killed his
brother Hemant and painted the walls to hide the blood stains.
He then threw the body in Hindon river, Kumar said.

Sachin and Amit, both minors, have been arrested and sent
to a juvenile home in Meerut.

According to Singh, Sachin took this extreme step as he
was depressed that Hemant was given a motorbike while he was
refused the same.

Hemant`s blood stained clothes and the knife used in the
murder have been recovered, the DIG said.
