Fog-hit trains in Uttar Pradesh to resume on Friday

Over two dozen trains that remained cancelled for the past three months because of fog and poor visibility will begin running on February 21, an official said.

Lucknow: Over two dozen trains that remained cancelled for the past three months because of fog and poor visibility will begin running on February 21, an official said on Thursday.

These trains, including 24 passenger and short-distance trains, have been out of operation.
Other than MEMU trains between satellite towns like Kanpur, Sultanpur, Barabanki, Pratapgarh, Jaunpur, Varanasi and Faizabad, the Janata Express between Lucknow and Dehradun, the state capital of neighbouring Uttarakhand, would also begin plying on Friday.

The cancellation of these trains had put daily commuters, office goers and travellers to Uttarakhand to a great inconvenience.
"Now that the weather has cleared, the railways has decided to begin running of 25 trains that were cancelled December last year," said Ashwini Kumar, senior divisional commercial manager.
