Lucknow: Humid weather is likely to continue in Uttar Pradesh for the next fortnight, the Met Office said on Thursday, ruling out any possibility of rains.

Due to southeastern winds, the hot and humid weather will continue throughout August, said Met officials.
Predicting light rains during the retreating monsoon, Met Director J.P. Gupta said the humidity level in Lucknow has touched 100 percent.

The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 36-38 degrees Celsius in most parts of the state, the Met officials said.
The rainfall has given the state a miss with 42 districts reporting below than average rains. Lucknow had recorded over 190 mm rainfall in August 2013 but this year the level has barely touched 165 mm, making August one of the driest months over a decade.

Uttar Pradesh has witnessed a dry spell in the month of June and July this year. Uttarakhand, however, has seen excess of rainfall leading to floods. Over 50 people have died this year due to flash floods and cloud bursts in Uttarakhand.
