Allahabad: In an early morning highway
robbery, two motorcycle-borne assailants shot dead a lawyer
and took away his car after forcing other occupants to leave
the vehicle in Handia area, police said.

The incident took place in Handia police station area,
around 40 kms from here, when the victim Rajesh Kumar
Agrahari, who had come to Allahabad along with his father and
a colleague, was on his way back home to Robertsganj,
Inspector of Handia police station Awadhesh Kumar Nigam said.

The victims were waylaid by the assailants when they
were travelling by the hired car. The armed men also opened
fire killing Agrahari on the spot and forcing his father,
colleague and the car driver to alight before decamping with
the vehicle.

One of the armed men was reportedly donning "a fake
khaki uniform", which made the driver think that they were
policemen and hence he slowed down instead of trying to speed
away, Nigam said, adding a case has been registered and
investigations are on.
