Kanpur: Acting on a tip off, police on Saturday conducted a raid on a factory manufacturing adulterated ice-cream, using poster-colour mixed with water and saccharin
as ingredients and made an arrest.
About 250 kg contaminated ice-cream, 200 kg poster colour and a large quantity of saccharin, an artificial sweetener, were seized from the factory in Panki area here.
City Magistrate HP Shahi told a news agency that the owner of the
factory is absconding while his brother Jayprakash has been
arrested.
He said the factory has been sealed and the samples of
the ice-cream have been sent for testing.
After a large number of incidents of children falling
ill after consuming adulterated ice-cream in the city, the
administration conducted raids on about half a dozen ice cream
factories.
