Bhadohi: At least six houses were set
on fire here and six people injured as rival factions clashed
while the tazia procession was being taken for burial this
evening on the occasion of Moharram.

District Magistrate Surendra Singh said that trouble
started when the taziadars objected to certain things lying on
the route of the procession following which the other faction
set on fire nine tazias which had reached the Karbala.

In response, the rival faction set about half-a-dozen
houses on fire as both sides raised slogans and engaged in
heavy stone pelting, resulting in minor injuries to some six
people, the DM said.

Fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot and the
blaze was controlled before any major damage could be done,
the DM said, adding that additional force has been deployed
and the situation was fully under control.

The remains of the tazias were given symbolic burial in
the presence of leading residents which helped in calming
the agitators, the DM added.
