Kanpur: Three persons allegedly committed suicide here in separate incidents in past 24 hours, police said on Tuesday.
A 50-year-old fruit vendor hanged himself at his residence in Babupurwa's Ajeetganj area here yesterday after being depressed about not being able to finance his medical expenses.
"The deceased identified as Munna Lal was suffering from asthama since four years. He was under stress because of the increased expenditure on his illness," police said.
In the second incident, a labourer distraught with financial woes ended his life, police said.
"Suresh Singh (42), lived in Panki Katra area with his wife Manju and son Shivam. He was a labourer, but since past few days was not getting much work. Last night he bolted the door of his room and hung himself.
"When the door could not be opened, his wife asked neighbours to help who then broke the door to find him hanging," police said.
The third case was reported from Kakadeo area where a homeguard's son allegedly committed suicide.
"His relatives say Sanjay Kumar (32), was a drug addict. He borrowed money from people for this and when he could not return the money he decided to end his life by hanging himself," police said.
