Jaunpur: A local court on Monday awarded life imprisionment to seven persons including six policemen in a 10-year-old custodial murder case.
District and Sessions judge V K Pandey awarded the life sentence to one sub-inspector R P Tyagi, constables Ramesh Yadav, Mritunjay Rai and Gorakhnath and home guards Ashok Singh, Vijay Shankar Tiwari and one Hari Narain.
They were convicted of killing one Munnu in police custody on September 14, 2002 to favour Hari Narain with whom he had a dispute.
A case of murder was registered against them at Sujan Ganj area.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10 thousand on each of the accused.
