Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Tuesday said his government was working expeditiously for the state`s development and provisions have been made in the budget to execute many big-ticket projects, result of which would be seen in times to come.

Speaking after releasing a coffee table book on the Uttar Pradesh police and seeing a model of the Lucknow Metro Rail coach, he noted that keeping in mind the population in major cities of the state, public transport was being prioritized through which local residents in these cities will also get job opportunities and their living standards would also improve.

Metro Rail projects would hence be taken up in Kanpur, Agra, Meerut and Varanasi, he added. Other than this, the chief minister pointed out work on widening of roads was also underway.

Referring to all possible efforts undertaken by the state government to protect poor and the destitute from the harsh winter chill, Akhilesh Yadav said directives have already been issued to district magistrates to distribute blankets and to arrange for bonfires.

Funds will not be a constraint in this, he assured.
