The investigation into the Vicky Tyagi murder case has been shifted to Sarvan Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Muzaffarnagar, police said on Wednesday.

Muzaffarnagar: The investigation into the Vicky Tyagi murder case has been shifted to Sarvan Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Muzaffarnagar, police said on Wednesday.

On the direction of DIG Ashok Kumar Raghav, the inquiry into the case was handed over to SP City Sarvan Kumar last evening as a deputy SP has been named in the case, SSP KB Singh said.

The case was initially handled by Chandra Kiran Yadav, SHO, Civil Lines police station, he said.

History-sheeter Vicky Tyagi was shot dead in a court room here, during a hearing on February 16. The assailant, Sagar Malik was arrested on the spot while another accused Brijbir nabbed later.

Three police officials namely Deputy SP (STF) Anuj Choudhry, SHO Sachin Malik and constable Vikas have also been named in the case.

A non-bailable warrant was issued against five people excluding the police officials on March 4.

The victim's mother Prabha Tyagi has demanded immediate arrest of the accused police officials.

The deceased was one of the accused in the 2011 Barkali case, in which eight people of a family were killed.
