Orai: A group of villagers assaulted two policemen and took away the service rifle of one of them when the cops had gone to a village here with a court summon.
Two constables Niranjan Kushwaha and Satyapal Singh had gone to Davar village on Sunday night to inform a man, his brother and two others that there is a warrant against them and they have to appear before a court when a scuffle took place and the cops were beaten up.
The villagers also snatched a rifle from one of the policemen.
Following the incident, a police team rushed to the village and admitted the injured policemen to a nearby hospital.
