‘Work towards fulfilment of SP`s poll promises’

UP CM Akhilesh Yadav directed the officials to ensure that promises made to farmers in the Samajwadi Party`s poll manifesto were fulfilled.

Lucknow: After taking a decision on
distribution of laptops and computer tablets, Uttar Pradesh
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday directed the officials to
ensure that promises made to farmers in the Samajwadi Party`s
poll manifesto were fulfilled.

The Chief Minister, at a meeting here, asked the
officials to work towards implementation of the promises made
to farmers in the election manifesto, an official spokesman
said.

Akhilesh asked the officials to prepare and submit a
policy for developing agriculture-based industries in a
month`s time and stressed his government would not neglect the
interest of farmers at any cost.
He ordered an inquiry into irregularities in
computerisation of district cooperative banks besides an
immediate probe into the functioning of land development bank.

Directing that all preparations be made for procurement
of foodgrains in time, the Chief Minister expressed concern
that farmers were not getting the right price for their
produce and asked the Mandi Parishad to ensure that they
(farmers) need not suffer on this count.

He also asked for ensuring timely availability of
seeds and fertilisers by keeping a check on its
blackmarketing.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the functioning of the
cooperatives department.
