Dehradun: Heavy rains triggered a series of cloudbursts and landslides in Tehri district of Uttarakhand on Saturday, bringing residential houses under loads of debris and blocking highway leading to Kedarnath Temple.

The cloudbursts took place at around 3 pm on Saturday over Kothiara village, damaging around 50 residential houses and killing several cattle.

No report of any human casualty has been surfaced as yet.

Similar cloudbursts also took place at Kemra and Siliara villages.

The highway to Yamunotri shrine was also blocked along with Ghansali-Chamiyala road in Tehri, reported The Times of India.

The process to clear the highways is in progress.

The Meteorological department office has, meanwhile, warmed that more rainfall could lash the state.
