MLA murder bid foiled, two attackers overpowered

Malda (WB): Unidentified pistol-wielding
attackers tried to open fire at Congress MLA Krishnendu
Narayan Chowdhury but were overpowered by his bodyguard and
locals here on Monday, police sources said.

Chowdhury, who is English Bazar Municipality chairman,
was entering his office at noon when around four persons armed
with a pistol tried to get close to him but his bodyguard and
supporters caught hold of two of them and thrashed them
severely, the sources said.

The other two attackers fled.
Police seized a pistol from the two arrested.
