Nandigram (WB): CID sleuths on Monday raided
the house of arrested CPI(M) leader Ashok Guria here and
seized two files in connection with the case of six missing
Trinamool Congress workers during Nandigram peasant movement
in 2007.
Amidst demonstration by locals demanding death sentence
to the culprits, CID officials along with Guria also inspected
the `Janani Itvata` (Janani brick kiln) in adjacent Khejuri to
probe the allegation that huge arms and ammunition were stored
by CPI(M) cadres during the movement.
They also visited the nearby Tekhali bridge from where
police pickets were removed days before the attack allegedly
by CPI(M) cadres on a TC procession leading to the death of
several TC supporters and disappearance of six others on
November 10, 2007.
Absconding Guria was arrested along with CPI(M)
strongman and former MP Lakhsman Seth and another leader Amiya
Sau from a guest house in Mumbai on March 17.
CID filed chargesheet on January 30, 2012 against
Lakhsman Seth, Guria and Sau besides 84 others accusing them
of killing the six and throwing their bodies in the Haldi
river.
CID came to the picture after Calcutta High Court
directed it to investigate the case of six missing Trinamool
workers following habeas corpus petitions by their family
members after the Mamata Banerjee government came to power in
the state last year.
