WB oppn leader volunteers for talks with Maoists

Leader of the Opposition Surjyakanta Mishra volunteered to hold talks with the ultras if he was felt acceptable.

Kolkata: With the Maoists offering a four
month ceasefire in junglemahal to the West Bengal government,
Leader of the Opposition Surjyakanta Mishra on Wednesday volunteered
to hold talks with the ultras if he was felt acceptable.

"I am ready to take part in peace talks provided the
state government, the Centre as well as the Maoists agree,"
Mishra, a central committee member of CPI(M), told reporters
here.

Stating that he was for a negotiated settlement of the
Maoist problem, the CPI(M) leader said "I am ready to take any
risk and sit for peace talks anywhere and at any time."

Earlier, Mishra objected to Chief Minister Mamata
Banerjee bracketing the CPI(M) and Maoists while referring to
any incident of violence.
