Beijing: Fourteen people were killed and eight others injured in two separate incidents of building collapse in China on Sunday.
Eight people were killed and three others injured when a four-storey under construction residential building collapsed in northwest China`s Shaanxi Province, local authorities.
Three hundred rescue workers were deployed to help those caught in the rubble. The three injured including the building`s owner Cao Minchang, were sent to hospital for treatment, said Mi Weixin, deputy secretary general of the Xi`an municipal government.
The construction of the residential building was almost complete when it collapsed. Neighbouring residents have been evacuated for safety concern. Initial investigation showed that substandard materials might be reason for the collapse, Xinhua quoted local
