Tokyo: A postal item containing what appeared to be a bullet was mailed to Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama the second time since he took office last
September, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirofumi Hirano said.

The mail item, which was delivered to the Prime Minister`s office in Tokyo`s Chiyoda Ward last morning, had a stamp mark of Japan Post Service`s Ginza branch in Chuo Ward dated Wednesday. However, the sender`s name or address was not mentioned on it.

The apparent bullet was found during a security check at the office, Hirano said.

The incident is "extremely regrettable”, Hirano said at an afternoon news conference, noting that police are looking into the case, including whether the object is a genuine bullet.

A similar object was mailed to Hatoyama on January 28, along with one sent to the office of Democratic Party of Japan Secretary General Ichiro Ozawa.

No one has been arrested in connection with the cases.
