Paris: Even though French President Francois Hollande announced his separation from the former French First Lady Valerie Trierweiler after the much hyped-up drama over his personal life went public, the two have not stopped communicating abruptly.
According to Trierweiler , she and the President are still on talking terms and that Hollande had sent her text messages concerned about her health when she was in India on behalf of a French charity group, she told a French weekly Le Parisien Magazine.
Calling her separation from the President as a break-up and not sacking, Trierweiler had earlier told French reporters in Mumbai that both of them would have still been together, “if François Hollande hadn’t been President”.
"We are not at war. We talk on the telephone," she had reportedly told local French media.
"You don`t cut off ties from one day to the next," she added.
While in Mumbai on behalf of French charity Action Contre la Faim (Action Against Hunger), the ex-first lady had also blamed `low blows` and `betrayals` for their split.
Expressing her shock at hearing the news of affair between Hollande and the French actress Julia Gayet, Trierweiler had told the French magazine Paris Match that she felt like she was “falling from a skyscraper”.
The Paris Match is the same magazine where Trierweiler has been working as a journalist.
Going by the accounts of the former first lady, it appears to be a split managed amicably by the two, but according to some French media reports, Hollande had told those in Elysee “overcome by emotion” post Trierweiler`s exit, to inform the President if they wanted to leave the palace.
A report publish in a French satirical weekly Canard Enchaine, quoted President Hollande as saying, ‘If there are people who wish to leave the Elysee overcome by emotion, they should tell me over the next few days.’
Also, Holande`s staff have deleted Trierweiler`s photos from the official Elysee website, along with all other references to her, reported the Daily Mail.
