IS militants imposing ''rule of terror'' in Syria: UN report

A United Nations report says that the Islamic State (IS) is imposing a "rule of terror" and committing war crimes in areas it controls in Syria.

London: A United Nations report says that the Islamic State (IS) is imposing a "rule of terror" and committing war crimes in areas it controls in Syria.

According to the BBC, the report says that the group is using "extreme violence" against civilians.

A female dentist who treated men was publically beheaded, according to the report.

It also reveals an incident wherein men who were caught smoking had their fingers amputated.

It is the first report where UN has closely examined the tactics of Islamic State (IS).

The extremist group has taken over large swathes of Iraq and Syria since June.
