Islamic State militants burn to death 45 people alive in Iraq: Report

Baghdad: A day after an Islamic State (IS) video showed gruesome mass beheading of 21 Coptic Christians at a Libya beach, the militants of the banned outfit on Tuesday burned to death 45 people in the western Iraqi town of al-Baghdadi.

“Jihadist militants from IS have burned to death 45 people in the western Iraqi town of al-Baghdadi,” a local police was quoted as saying by BBC.

The police, however, could not immediately determine the reason behind this barbaric act. Although, as per the report, among the people being burnt, some probably belong to the security forces.

Notably, this is not the first incident in which the militants crossed all limits of barbarism by burning down people alive. Earlier this month, the Islamic State militants had published a video showing militants burning alive a Jordanian air force pilot, whose plane crashed in Syria.

Last week, Islamic State insurgents took control of most of the western Iraqi town of al-Baghdadi, threatening an air base where US Marines are training Iraqi troops.

Al-Baghdadi, about 85 km (50 miles) northwest of Ramadi in Anbar province, had been besieged for months by the radical Sunni Islamist militants who captured vast swathes of northern and western Iraq last year.
