Washington: US President Barack Obama will
meet on Wednesday with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev
on the sidelines of the UN general assembly, a US official
said on Sunday.
Next week`s talks will be the first between the two
leaders since Obama yesterday shelved Bush-era plans for a
eastern European missile defence system, much to Moscow`s
delight.
US envoy to the United Nations, Susan Rice, said the
talks would take place Wednesday, the day that the UN`s annual
general debate opens bringing together world leaders and their
ministers.
