Washington: US President Barack Obama will
meet on Wednesday with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev
on the sidelines of the UN general assembly, a US official
said on Sunday.
Next week's talks will be the first between the two
leaders since Obama yesterday shelved Bush-era plans for a
eastern European missile defence system, much to Moscow's
delight.
US envoy to the United Nations, Susan Rice, said the
talks would take place Wednesday, the day that the UN's annual
general debate opens bringing together world leaders and their
ministers.
