Moscow: Vladimir Putin, who was recently sworn-in as Russian President, will make China his first foreign destination for the third presidential term, a report said on Friday.

Notably, Putin is not attending the Group of Eight (G8) summit to be hosted by US President Barack Obama.
Putin will reportedly visit China from June 05-07 and meet Chinese President Hu Jintao. The Russian President will also attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit.

On Wednesday, Putin told US President Barack Obama by phone that he would not be able to attend the G8 summit on May 18-19 due to busy domestic schedule.

Instead, new Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, who has just handed over presidential powers to Putin, will attend the summit.
The US visit would have included Putin’s ice-breaking talks with Obama.
