In a unique case of drone-delivery bid of gun, drugs and porn into a jail, US officials in Maryland foiled an attempt by two men to sneak in contraband into a prison by flying drones into its premises.

Maryland: In a unique case of drone-delivery bid of gun, drugs and porn into a jail, US officials in Maryland foiled an attempt by two men to sneak in contraband into a prison by flying drones into its premises.

The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services stated that the two suspects were as found Saturday on a side road near the Western Correctional Institution in Cumberla Western Correctional Institution in Cumberland along with a vehicle that carried contraband items and also an aircraft – that the officials called drone.

The vehicle's owner had been under surveillance for some time, reports the CNN. Items within his vehicle included packets of K2 (or synthetic marijuana), tobacco, suboxone, pornographic DVDs and a handgun, adds the CNN report.

The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services  also tweeted a picture of the contraband items found into the suspect's vehicle.

 

"This is the first case in Maryland where a drone is suspected in a contraband delivery plot," state Public Safety and Correctional Services Secretary Stephen Moyer told reporters.
