13 tested positive for dengue in Jammu

One more case of dengue surfaced in the Basohli area of J&K's Kathua district, taking the number of patients suffering from the vector-bourne disease to 13 in Jammu region, officials said today.

Jammu: One more case of dengue surfaced in the Basohli area of J&K's Kathua district, taking the number of patients suffering from the vector-bourne disease to 13 in Jammu region, officials said today.

"Until yesterday, a total of 13 people were tested positive with the vector-borne disease in Jammu region," a health official said on Thursday.

He said that one more case of dengue surfaced yesterday in the Basohli area of Kathua district.

"On Tuesday, two children were tested positive for the virus in Government Medical College (GMC) hospital where blood samples of 26 people with the dengue symptoms were tested," the official said.

He said that people need to take precautions so as to save themselves from mosquito bites. The people have also been advised to discard any stagnant water which can become breeding ground for mosquitoes.

"With the fresh rainfall, the danger of dengue virus has increased so the people are advised to take precautionary measures so as to save themselves from the disease," he said.

He advised the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to do fogging of the areas which are susceptible of the presence of the mosquito larva.
