Srinagar: CRPF on Friday night said its personnel
were forced to open fire in Sopore town of Jammu and Kashmir
in retaliation to terrorists` fire on its men which left one
of its inspectors seriously wounded.
Commenting on today`s incident in Sopore in which two
persons lost their lives, CRPF Special Director General N K
Tripathy told agency that the mob went on a rampage and burnt
vehicles of the para-military force.
"After the second militant was killed, the crowd
gathered in huge number. There was a fire from the crowd side,
which was retaliated. One person was killed on the spot while
another succumbed to injuries in hospital,` he said.
CRPF Inspector Rotash Singh was injured in the fire
which came from the mob, and he is in critical condition, he
said.
