Srinagar: A barrack in Central Jail was
partially damaged in a fire that broke out in its kitchen
today, a police spokesman said.
"Due to leakage of gas, the fire broke out in a kitchen
and soon spread to the barrack number nine this morning," the
spokesman said.
However, there was no casualty and the fire was
extinguished within a short time.
"We got a message around 8.40 am about the fire on the
jail premises. We rushed a team and it took us half-an-hour to
douse the flames," Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, In-charge Fire and
Emergency station Rainwari, said.
The jail is located on the foothills of Hari Parbat in
interior city.
Meanwhile, two houses were damaged in separate fire
incidents in Baramulla district, the spokesman said.
