Lt Gen KT Parnaik visits forward areas along LoC

Parnaik on Thursday visited the forward areas along the LoC in north
Kashmir to take stock of the Army`s operational preparedness
and the situation on the borders.

Parnaik, who arrived in the Valley on a two-day visit
yesterday, was briefed on the operational preparedness and the
situation on the LoC by the troops posted in Baramulla sector
where he went today, a defence spokesman told PTI here.

Accompanied by General Officer Commanding of
Srinagar-based 15 corps Lt Gen SA Hasnain, the spokesman said
the Army Commander interacted with the troops deployed in the
high altitude areas and complimented them for their
outstanding vigilance and state of preparedness throughout
the year.

Earlier, on his arrival at Badami Bagh Cantonment here,
Lt Gen Parnaik was received by the corps commander and was
briefed in detail on various security related issues including
strategy for the ongoing winter season and the next summer to
check infiltration attempts by militants.

The spokesman said the army commander conveyed his
appreciation for the manner in which the troops have respected
Human Right norms and ensured full understanding of the
sensitivities of the `Awam` (people).

He also conveyed his best wishes for the New Year to
all ranks, families and members of the `Awam`, the spokesman
added.
