Maharashtra puts on hold junior college admissions

The Maharashtra Government has put on hold the process for admissions to junior college following a High Court order striking down its `best of five` system.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Government has put
on hold the process for admissions to junior college following
a High Court order striking down its `best of five` system.

"We have put on hold the admission process for junior
colleges (Std XI) for two days as we need time to study the
judgement," said Balasaheb Thorat, Education Minister.

The Bombay High Court today struck down the system
whereby marks obtained in five subjects out of total six were
to be counted in SSC board`s Std 10th mark list, leaving out
the subject with lowest marks

The minister said decision on appealing in supreme court
and whether to issue or not revised marksheets would also be
taken only after they go through the judgement in details.
