Lahore: Pakistani police have arrested a
`serial killer`, who allegedly murdered at least 20 elderly
women in the central Punjab province.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Waseem Akhtar of Sialkot
district, located 80 km from here, said Mohammad Yousuf
"killed" the elderly women after robbing them of their
belongings.

Yousuf used to "lure poor women with the promise of
providing them financial aid under the government`s Benazir
Income Support Programme and through other charity
organisations," Akhtar said. "He then killed them after
robbing them of their cash."

While in police custody, Yousuf confessed taking the
women to "deserted places and killing them by hitting them
with bricks" before disposing of their bodies, Akhtar said.

Police said they had recovered the bodies of nine of the
victims.
