Peshawar: Six Taliban fighters were
killed as security forces repulsed an attack by militants on a
checkpost in the restive Orakzai tribal region in northwest
Pakistan on Saturday, officials said.
Three security personnel were also injured in the
clash, the officials said.
A group of militants attacked the checkpost in the
tribal region near the Afghan border early this morning.
Militants associated with the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban
Pakistan led by Hakimullah Mehsud and al Qaeda operatives are
active in the region.
