Eight more persons died due to cold in different parts of Uttar Pradesh, taking the death toll in the state this winter to 127.

cold in different parts of Uttar Pradesh, taking the death
toll in the state this winter to 127.

While two died in Ballia, one each died in Allahabad,
Kaushambi, Lalitpur, Hamirpur, Hathras and Siddharth Nagar due
to cold conditions since yesterday, officials said here today.
Though cold conditions persisted in most parts of the
state, a bright sun came out in the morning giving some
respite to the people.

Sultanpur at 4.0 deg C, which was five notches below
normal, was the coldest place in the state.

Lucknow, the state capital, recorded a minimum of 4.6
deg C this morning, which was four notches below normal.

Varanasi recorded a low of 7.6 deg C, Kanpur witnesses
6.4 deg C, which was two notches below normal, while the
minimum temperature in Allahabad settled at 9.8 deg C, one
degrees above normal.
In Gorakhpur, the minimum temperature was 5.8 deg C,
three degree below normal.
