Heavy rains lash eastern UP

After a brief lull, heavy rain lashed parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh even though monsoon remained weak over the western region.

Incessant rainfall has also brought an end to the humidity of the past few days in eastern UP.

Heavy rainfall disrupted normal life in some parts with rain water entering several houses, schools and office buildings in Amethi and Gauriganj area of Chatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Nagar district.

The areas received shower include Meja 19 cms rain, Chhatnag 16, Fatehpur 13, Amethi, Kunda 10 each, Rai Bareilly, Robertganj, Mirzapur 9 each, Patti, Karwi and Ayodhya 8 each, Met office said.

Sitapur, Elgin Bridge, Kakardharighat, Barabanki, Hardoi, Bahraich, Dumariyagang, Kasganj, Varanasi received 7 cms each, Bindki, Baberu, Bhatpurvaghat 6 cm each, Chayal, Dharohra and Sirathuuttraula 5 cm each.

Following incessant rains, water level of many rivers have increased.
Weathermen has forecast rain and thundershowers at most places over eastern UP and at a few places over the western parts in the next 24-hour.

They have also warned of heavy to very heavy rain at few places over eastern UP in the next 48-hour.
