40 taken ill after consuming street food

Over 40 people were taken ill after eating "contaminated" food from a street hawker at a village near here, doctors said on Sunday.

Khatima (Uttarakhand): Over 40 people were taken ill after eating "contaminated" food from a street hawker at a village near here, doctors said on Sunday.
They said the people, belonging Katura village in Udham Singh Nagar district, began vomitting last night after eating `golgappe` (water balls) and `tikki` (fried snacks) from a hawker.

They were rushed to nearby hospitals. Most of them have been discharged and the condition of others was stated to be stable.

Police have launched a manhunt to track down the hawker who sold the contaminated eatables to the villagers.
