Minsk: Belarus has said it welcomes any international effort to prevent new conflict in the Middle East amid recent US threats to launch a missile attack on the governmental and military targets in Syria.
Belarus also supports the initiative of Russian foreign ministry to put Syria`s chemical weapons under international control, reported Xinhua citing the Belarusian foreign ministry in a statement Tuesday.
The eastern Europian country`s government hoped that the Russian proposal would enable the US to forgo any military intervention not sanctioned by the UN and avoid more victims among Syrian citizens.
Belarus stated that the internal conflict in Syria could be solved through negotiations only.
