Beirut: At least five people were killed when a car bomb exploded at a border crossing between Syria and Turkey on Thursday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
A Turkish official confirmed that a car bomb had detonated on the Syrian side of the Bab al-Salama crossing, saying four people were dead and 45 wounded.

He said the injured were taken to a hospital in Turkey`s Kilis province on the border.

The Syrian side of the crossing is under the control of Islamist rebels who have been battling jihadists from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant since early January.
ISIL has regularly targeted rival rebel brigades with car and suicide bomb attacks.

The attack is not the first time border crossings between Turkey and Syria have been targeted.

In January, at least five people were killed in a double suicide car bombing at the Bab al-Hawa border post in northwestern Idlib province.
