Indonesian ship catches fire

An investigation still needs to be carried out to determine what triggered the blaze.

Jakarta: An Indonesian ferry burst into flames, but all 150 passengers and crew have been safely evacuated.

Port authority official Durmanto, who goes by only one name, said the fire broke out on Monday afternoon in waters off East Java island.

An investigation still needs to be carried out to determine what triggered the blaze. But it appears to have originated from a vehicle parked on the deck.
Durmanto says rescuers rushed to the scene, evacuating all 150 passengers. They were brought to the provincial capital, Surabaya.
