Mexico`s federal police agency says it has fired nearly 10 percent of its force this year for failing lie detector and other tests.

Mexico City: Mexico`s federal police agency says it has fired nearly 10 percent of its force this year for failing lie detector and other tests.

Mexico`s approximately 35,000 federal police are required periodically to take lie detector, psychological and drug tests. The government also routinely investigates their finances and personal life.
Federal Police Commissioner Facundo Rosas says 3,200 officers have been dismissed this year for failing to meet some of those criteria. He have no other details.

They are banned from taking jobs in any other Mexican security force.

Rosas said Monday that another 1,020 police are facing unspecified disciplinary measures.
